Graduate Students Shikang Li et al. Won CIOP 2019 Best Student Paper Award Optics Frontier―The International Conference on Information Optics and Photonics (CIOP) is an international conference with comprehensive technical sessions about optics and photonics. CIOP2019 was held in Xi'an, China, 6-9 August 2019 and attract 1200+ attendees, 40+ exhibitors and 700+ technical presentations from all corners of the world to share and communicate their latest research works. CIOP 2019 selected three Best Student Paper Awards.
The paper "Multidimensional quantum linear operations with simple and non-cascaded structure" by Shikang Li, a Ph.D. student supervised by Professor Xue Feng from the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, won the Best Student Paper Award at this conference. Professor Yidong Huang and Professor Wei Zhang were co-authors. High-dimensional universal linear transformation of optical quantum states is a key technology in optical quantum computing. This paper proposed and demonstrated a simple and flexible scheme for universal quantum operations with a matrix dimension much higher than previously recorded. This paper provides a new approach towards large scale quantum information processing.
