Prof. Yidong Huang, Prof. Wei Zhang, and Ph.D. candidate Zhexuan Wang attended the conference "Optics and Photonics in Africa 2023" and gave invited talks.
On November 5-10, 2023, Prof. Yidong Huang, Prof. Wei Zhang, and PhD candidate Zhexuan Wang were invited to attend the conference “Optics and Photonics in Africa 2023” in White River, South Africa. In the conference, Prof. Yidong Huang gave the invited talk entitled "Future Perception Technology based on Nano-optoelectronics", Prof. Wei Zhang gave the invited talk entitled "Silicon photonic circuits for Quantum Entanglement Distribution Networks", and Ph.D. candidate Zhexuan Wang gave the invited talk entitled " Electron emission from graphene-hBN-graphene heterostructure". These presentations provide a comprehensive overview of the recent research progresses of our Laboratory, and have received wide attention. Beijing University, Zhejiang University, Fujian Normal University, Changchun Institute of Optical Machinery, and Shanghai Institute of Optical Machinery also have participants give talks in the conference. The African Optics and Photonics Conference 2023 (OPA2023) brings together experts from China, the United States, Japan, Europe and other regions to share the latest advances in optics and photonics and establish new international collaborations. The target audience is emerging and established researchers on the African Continent and internationally. Apart from South Africa, there is a strong focus of the participation of students originating from Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria, Egypt and Tunisia.
OPA2023 focuses on presenting the latest research and findings related to various fields, including Applied Optics and Photonics, Biomedical optics, Fiber & Integrated Photonics, Green Photonics, Lasers & Light Sources, LIDAR and Photogrammetry, Light-matter Interaction, Nanophotonics, Nonlinear & Quantum Optics, Optical Instrumentation, Optical Metrology, Optical Materials, Photovoltaic Systems, Photonics for Aerospace and Spectroscopy. The aim of the conference is to foster networks and encourage meaningful impact in the lives of researchers working in optics and photonics.
