From May 17 to 21, 2026, the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO 2026), a premier international academic conference in the fields of photonics and laser science, was held at the Charlotte Convention Center in North Carolina, USA. Co-sponsored by the IEEE Photonics Society, Optica (formerly OSA), and the American Physical Society (APS), the conference covers a wide range of cutting-edge research areas, including laser science, quantum optics, nonlinear optics, fiber technologies, ultrafast lasers, and micro-nano photonics. Prof. Hao Sun and Ph.D. candidate Mr. Yudi Chen from our group attended the conference and delivered academic presentations.

In the session "Nonlinear Imaging & Computing Platforms," Ph.D. candidate Mr. Yudi Chen gave an oral presentation titled "Tying Electrons into Knots," introducing the group's research progress in fundamental research on the complex amplitude modulation of free electron wave function and the experimental implementation of 3D free electron knot. In the session "Novel Physics Based Photonic Devices II," Prof. Hao Sun delivered an invited talk titled "Erbium Compound Nanomaterials for On-Chip Optoelectronics," presenting the group's latest research results on novel on-chip integrated active devices based on erbium compound nanomaterials. During the conference, the attending members attended numerous technical sessions and engaged in professional discussions and technical exchanges with international peers in related fields.
