On May 8th, the 2021 graduate forum is successfully held in Tsinghua University and the theme of this forum is about integrated chip. Under the guidance of Professor Feng Xue, PhD candidate Zhang Shan won the "Excellent Oral Report Award" for her presentation tilted "Integrated Photonic Orbital Angular Momentum Emitter with Dimensionality of 20". Orbital angular momentum (OAM) is an independent degree of freedom of light beam, providing a promising platform for higher optical information coding. At present, integrated OAM emitter is an attractive research field. Professor Feng Xue has investigated integrated OAM devices for many years, and his team proposed and demonstrated “cobweb” OAM emitter on chip. Based on the previous work, Ms. Zhang Shan has demonstrated an integrated OAM emitter that can generate OAM modes of topological charges ranging between -10~10, and a heralded single photon source with switchable OAM modes. This work would boost the application of OAM in both classical and quantum optics field.
