From October 25 to 28, 2024, the 7th Academic Annual Meeting of Young Scientists in Optics was held in the historic city of Nanjing, attracting over 500 researchers and industry professionals from across the country to participate in this “Golden Autumn Gathering”. This conference is dedicated to providing a high-level academic exchange platform for young scientists in the field of optics, promoting interdisciplinary integration, and fostering technological innovation and development.

During the opening ceremony, the Chinese Laser Journal Press held an award ceremony to recognize the outstanding contributions of young editorial board members to the development of academic journals. After a rigorous selection process, 20 young scholars were awarded the “Outstanding Young Editor Award” from a pool of over 300 candidates. Academicians Dianyuan Fan and Wanhua Zheng presented the awards to the recipients. Professor Hao Sun, serving as a young editorial board member for Photonics Research, was honored with this award.

Following the award ceremony, Professor Hao Sun was invited to give a talk in session 9 on “Optical Materials and Devices”. She presented a talk titled “Room-temperature nanolaser and efficient NIR detector based on rare-earth compound nanomaterials”. She shared her latest research findings in the field of novel optical materials, and engaged in in-depth discussions with attending experts and scholars.
